Mint Meringue Trees
Ingredients
- 2 egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon mint extract
- 1/4 teaspoon green food coloring
- Decorating candies
Instructions
- Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt until foamy and double.
- Beat in sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating until sugar dissolves and meringue forms firm peaks.
- Stir in mint and food coloring.
- Fit a star tip on pastry bag. Press onto cookie sheet in tiny tree shapes.
- Bake at 225 degrees F for 1 hour 15 minutes or until firm.
- Cool for 10 minutes.
