Merry Meringues

Merry Meringues

Yield: 12 servings, 2 meringues each

Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 (4 serving size) box Jell-O Brand Lime Flavor Gelatin
  • 1 (4 serving size) box Jell-O Brand Strawberry Flavor Gelatin

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 225 degrees F.
  2. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar in small bowl with electric mixer on high speed 5 minutes or until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating on high speed until stiff peaks form.
  4. Drop tablespoonsful of the egg white mixture onto baking sheet covered with parchment paper.
  5. Sprinkle each meringue lightly with dry gelatin powders.
  6. Bake for 50 minutes.
  7. Turn oven off. Prop oven door open slightly; let meringues stand in oven for 1 hour or until completely cooled.
