Caramel Apple Crisp
Yield: 16 to 20 servings
Ingredients
Crisp
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 40 caramels, quartered
- 9 cups baking apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup orange juice
Topping
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2/3 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Instructions
Crisp
- Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg; add caramels and stir to coat.
- In a separate bowl, toss apples with orange juice.
- Stir in caramel mixture and spread into a greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Add topping.
Topping
- Combine sugar and flour in a small bowl; cut in butter until crumbly.
- Add oats and walnuts; sprinkle over apples.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 40 minutes or until apples are tender.
