Brandied Almond Bars

Ingredients

Base

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (210 grams)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (115 grams)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (1.42 grams)
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine (115 grams)
  • 1 egg, beaten

Glaze

  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine (75 grams)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (115 grams)
  • 1/4 cup brandy (59.15 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (42.5 grams)
  • 1 (6 ounce) package sliced almonds

Instructions

  1. Base: Combine flour, sugar and salt.
  2. Cut in butter or margarine, then egg and work with fingers until smooth.
  3. Press into 15 x 10-inch jellyroll pan.
  4. Glaze: Combine ingredients for glaze (except nuts) and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, add almonds and spread evenly over base.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Cool, then cut into diamonds or squares.

Yield: 6 dozen
