Butter Pecan Turtle Bars

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Crust: Combine flour, sugar and butter. Mix well.
  3. Pat firmly into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  4. Sprinkle pecans on top.
  5. Caramel layer: In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, cook butter and sugar, stirring constantly. Boil for 1/2 to 1 minute.
  6. Pour evenly over crust.
  7. Bake for 22 to 25 minutes or until layer is bubbly.
  8. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over top. Allow to melt 2 to 3 minutes.
  9. Stir slightly to marbleize.
  10. Cool completely (several hours or overnight) before cutting.

Yield: 3 to 4 dozen bars
