Instructions

  1. Mix butter and 1/4 cup sugar.
  2. Add 4 egg yolks and flour.
  3. Put into freezer for about 15 minutes.
  4. Pat dough onto a 13 x 9-inch cookie sheet.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes in 300 degree F oven.
  6. As soon as this is done, spread with fruit filling.
  7. Beat 4 egg whites until stiff.
  8. Add remaining 1 cup sugar and vanilla extract.
  9. Spread over filling and sprinkle with nuts.
  10. Bake for 20 minutes at 300 degrees F.
  11. Let set for 5 minutes, then cut into squares.
