Heavenly Hash Squares
Ingredients
Squares
- 4 slightly beaten eggs
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter (room temperature)
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups chopped nuts
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (10 1/2 ounce) bag miniature marshmallows
Icing
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1 (16 ounce) box sifted confectioners' sugar
Instructions
Squares
- Heat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Combine eggs, sugar, butter, cocoa, flour, nuts and vanilla extract.
- Put batter into a greased 13 x 9 inch pan and bake until done, about 40 minutes. (The squares come out flat.)
- Remove from oven and immediately empty package of marshmallows on top, spreading evenly.
Icing
- Heat cocoa, butter and evaporated milk until melted.
- Add confectioners' sugar.
- Pour over marshmallows while icing is still warm.
- Refrigerate until icing hardens.
- Cut into squares.
- Put on serving plate or in muffin-cup liners to serve.
- Eat with fingers.
Notes
Freezes well.
