Rich Butterscotch Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 (10-11 ounce) package butterscotch chips
  • 1/2 cup butter (no substitutes)
  • 2 cups Graham cracker crumbs
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup walnuts

Instructions

  1. In double boiler, melt chips and butter, stirring constantly.
  2. Add cracker crumbs. Set aside 2/3 cup.
  3. Press remaining crumb mixture into greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
  4. In a small bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
  5. Add milk, egg and vanilla extract; mix well.
  6. Stir in nuts.
  7. Pour over crust.
  8. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture on top.
  9. Bake at 325 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes until wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean.
  10. Cool.

Yield: about 2 1/2 dozen
