Rich Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  2. Stir together flour and brown sugar.
  3. Cut in butter.
  4. Add egg, mixing well.
  5. Stir in 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and nuts.
  6. Reserving 1 1/2 cups mixture, press remaining crumb mixture onto bottom of prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes.
  8. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over hot crust.
  9. Top with 1 1/2 cups toffee bits.
  10. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture and remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips over top.
  11. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden.
  12. Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup toffee bits on top.
  13. Cool completely.

Yield: about 48 bars
