Brownies, Hawaiian Style


  • 4 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup macadamia nuts, chopped
  • 2 cups (12 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
  • 1 (7 ounce) can shredded coconut

  1. Melt unsweetened chocolate and butter in heavy saucepan over low heat. Let cool.
  2. Beat eggs at medium speed with an electric mixer until foamy; gradually add sugar, vanilla extract and melted chocolate mixture, mixing well.
  3. Add flour, beating well.
  4. Stir in half amount each of chopped nuts, chocolate morsels and coconut.
  5. Spoon batter into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  6. Sprinkle remaining nuts, chocolate morsels and coconut over top of batter.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 minutes.
  8. Let cool completely in pan on a wire rack.
  9. Cut into squares.
