Double Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces chocolate chips (1 cup)
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Confectioners' sugar

Instructions

  1. Freeze 1 cup chocolate chips for 1 hour.
  2. In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.
  3. In saucepan, bring butter, sugar and water to a boil. Immediately remove from heat.
  4. Add the UNFROZEN 1 cup chocolate chips and vanilla extract, stirring until chips are melted and mixture is smooth.
  5. Transfer mixture to large bowl.
  6. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  7. Gradually blend in flour mixture.
  8. Stir in nuts and frozen chocolate chips.
  9. Spread into a greased a 9 inch square baking pan.
  10. Bake at 325 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes.
  11. Cool completely.
  12. Cut into squares.
  13. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
