Maple Brownies



  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 6 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • Sifted powdered sugar


  1. Beat together eggs, granulated sugar and vanilla extract.
  2. Add syrup; mix well.
  3. Melt butter and chocolate over low heat; remove from heat.
  4. Blend in egg mixture.
  5. Stir together flour, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt; stir into chocolate mixture.
  6. Stir in nuts.
  7. Spread in greased 9-inch square baking pan.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes.
  9. Cool; dust with powdered sugar.

Makes 24.
