Truffle Brownies



  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Sifted powdered sugar (optional)


  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease and flour a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan, set aside.
  2. In the top of a double boiler, over simmering water, melt chocolate pieces and butter.
  3. Stir in coffee until combined.
  4. Cool to room temperature.
  5. In a medium mixing bowl, beat the eggs with electric mixer until foamy.
  6. Add sugar and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  7. Reduce speed and beat in chocolate mixture.
  8. Stir in flour.
  9. Spread in the prepared pan and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Cool in pan on a wire rack.
  11. Cut into bars.
  12. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if you like.

Makes 36 brownies.
