Soft Gingerbread Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup molasses
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- Pinch ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk, soured
Instructions
- Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly grease a cookie sheet.
- Cream together sugar, butter and molasses.
- Sift together flour, baking soda, spices and salt. Add flour mixture alternately with soured milk to creamed mixture. Mix well. Chill.
- Roll out on lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into shapes using cookie cutters of choice. Place gently on prepared cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Cool on racks and decorate, if desired.
