Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Beat butter until creamy. Blend in sugar gradually; beat until fluffy. Add egg and sour cream; mix well.
  2. Sift together flour, nutmeg, baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture and beat thoroughly.
  3. Chill for 2 hours.
  4. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a cookie sheet.
  5. On a floured surface, roll out a small amount of dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with a cookie cutter. If desired, sprinkle with sugar, colored sugar crystals or chopped nuts.
  6. Bake on the prepared cookie sheet at for 8 to 10 minutes or until very lightly browned.
