Chocolate Marshmallow Cookies

Ingredients

Cookies

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 18 marshmallows, cut in half

Frosting

  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 5 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons soft butter
  • 4 to 5 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Sift dry ingredients.
  2. Cream Crisco, sugar, egg, vanilla extract and milk.
  3. Mix with dry ingredients.
  4. Drop by teaspoonsful onto greased baking sheet.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 8 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and press 1/2 marshmallow, cut side down, on top of each cookie.
  7. Bake for 2 minutes more.
  8. Cool and top with frosting.
  9. Add a pecan half to the top of each cookie after frosting.
