Rum Slices


  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 pound confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 pound pecans, ground
  • 1/2 pound walnuts, ground
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or rum
  • Rum


  1. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add sugar and nuts. Flavor with vanilla extract or rum. Form into 3/4-inch diameter rolls.
  2. Chill for 45 minutes.
  3. Cut into 1/2-inch slices.
  4. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes.
  5. While still warm, ice with confectioners' sugar moistened with enough rum to spread.
