Cherry Cream Cheese Cookies




  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour


  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 teaspoons flour
  • 3 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained


  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 3 to 4 teaspoons water


  1. Mix sugar and butter or margarine. Add egg and vanilla extract. Stir in flour.
  2. Cover and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours.
  3. Shape dough into balls. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. With thumb, make imprint in each cookie.
  4. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in a preheated 350 degree F oven. Remove from cookie sheet and cool.
  5. Mix filling and fill cookie center with 1/2 teaspoon of filling.
  6. In saucepan, melt chocolate chips and butter or margarine.
  7. Mix in remaining ingredients and drizzle over cookies.

Makes 4 1/2 dozen.
