Chocolate Lady Fingers
This is another one from My Grandmother's cookbook dated 1944.
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons cream or
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Beat egg yolks until thick. Add the sugar and beat until light and thick. Add
vanilla extract, salt and water.
- Sift flour, cocoa and baking powder together and add it alternately with the
cream or milk. Beat the egg whites stiff and fold into batter.
- Bake in oiled Ladyfinger
tins at 375 degrees F for 10 minutes. If Lady Finger tins are not available, shape
dough into lady finger shapes on an oiled cookie sheet and bake.
Makes 3 dozen.
