Shortbread Cookies


  • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • Food coloring of choice
  • Confectioners' sugar


  1. Mix softened butter and cream cheese with the granulated sugar until well blended. Mix in flour and food coloring. If you are making more than one color, divide the dough and mix in the coloring in separate bowls.
  2. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  3. Bake at 400 degrees F for 10 to 13 minutes or until firm and light golden brown.
  4. Cool on wire racks, then sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.

Makes about 6 dozen.
