Sugar Honeys
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Salt, to taste
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1 egg white
- Candied cherries (to garnish)
- Butter frosting
Instructions
- Heat oven to 300 degrees F. Grease a cookie sheet.
- Mix first 6 ingredients and roll into small balls, then dip into slightly beaten egg white and roll in nuts. Make an indentation in the center of each ball with a floured measuring spoon.
- Bake for 5 minutes on prepared cookie sheet, then make a deeper dent and bake for 15 minutes longer.
- When cooled, fill indentations with butter frosting and top with a piece of candied cherry.
Notes
This cookie keeps quite well and can be frozen (unfilled), then filled just before serving.
