Cheddar Shortbread



  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups whole wheat or white flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne
  • Sesame seeds


  1. Heat oven to 375 to 400 degrees F. Grease a cookie sheet.
  2. In large bowl, cream butter, cheese, flour, salt and cayenne. Turn out onto floured surface; knead lightly to blend well. Pat out into a large square and cut into bars.
  3. Bake on prepared cookie sheet for 20 minutes or until golden.
  4. Serve hot or cold.

Makes about 16 bars.
