Pat-in-the-Pan Shortbread


  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2/4 teaspoon salt


  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. Cream butter.
  3. Mix (or sift) together the dry ingredients.
  4. Blend dry ingredients into the butter.
  5. Pat the stiff dough into an ungreased 9-inch square pan and press edges down.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  7. Cut into squares while warm.
