Apple Brown Betty
- 4 slices bread, cubed
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- Dash nutmeg
- Dash salt
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 cups cooking apples, peeled and chopped
- Mix bread cubes with butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and brown sugar. Arrange
in alternate layers with apples in crockette.
- Cover and cook 2-3 hours or until apples are tender.
- Serve warm with cream, hard sauce or ice cream.
