Sweet and Sour Beef

Yield: 6 to 8 servings

Ingredients

  • Cooking oil
  • 1 (3 to 4 pound) chuck or blade roast
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat a thin film of oil in a sauté pan; brown meat for 3 to 4 minutes per side.
  2. Transfer to slow cooker.
  3. In a bowl whisk together onion, mushroom soup, water, brown sugar, vinegar, salt, mustard and Worcestershire; pour over meat.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 12 to16 hours.
  5. Serve with stuffing or mashed potatoes.
