Chocolate Mud Pudding Cake

This recipe works best in a 3 1/2-quart slow cooker. If a larger slow cooker is used, increase ingredients to fill slow cooker at least half full.


  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 3 1/2 cups boiling water
  • About 4 cups vanilla ice cream


  1. In slow cooker mix together 2 cups brown sugar, flour, 1/2 cup cocoa, baking powder and salt.
  2. Stir in milk, vanilla extract and melted butter.
  3. In small bowl, stir together 1/2 cup cocoa, 1 1/2 cups brown sugar and chopped nuts. Sprinkle over batter.
  4. Pour boiling water over top. DO NOT STIR.
  5. Place lid on slow cooker, and cook on HIGH for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
  6. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
