- 3 large eggs, well beaten
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 quart milk
- 1 tablespoon
- Dash of ground nutmeg
- Combine eggs and sugar in a large saucepan; gradually stir in milk. Cook over
medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and coats a metal spoon
(about 20 minutes).
- Cool custard slightly.
- Stir in vanilla extract and nutmeg; cover
and chill. (This mixture is pouring consistency.)
Makes 5 cups.
