Candied Sweet Potatoes

These candied sweet potatoes have been standard fare at our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for years. This is my Mother's recipe.

Ingredients



Instructions

  1. Wash and pare potatoes. Cook for 10 minutes in boiling, salted water.
  2. Drain; cut in halves lengthwise and put into a buttered pan.
  3. Make a syrup by boiling the sugar and water for 3 minutes. Add butter. Baste potatoes with syrup.
  4. Bake slowly at 300 degrees F until tender. Sprinkle with miniature marshmallows and pecans, and broil or bake until marshmallows are golden.
