Frosted Molasses Creams
I got this recipe from a fellow juror when I served on the 40th Maricopa County, Arizona, Grand Jury back in the 80's. This is a wonderful recipe!

Ingredients
Bars
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/3 cup hot coffee
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
Frosting
- 1/4 cup butter, creamed
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 2 tablespoons coffee
Instructions
Bars
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Cream shortening and sugar. Blend in eggs, molasses and coffee. Add remaining ingredients and blend well. Pour into a greased and floured 13 x 9 inch pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for about 20 to 25 minutes. Check for doneness.
- Frost while warm.
Frosting
- Mix until smooth.
