Mississippi Fried Oysters

Ingredients

  • Raw oysters
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Drain oysters and soak in eggs.
  2. Mix cornmeal, sugar, salt, pepper and flour.
  3. Dip oysters into cornmeal mixture and fry in deep shortening until golden brown.
  4. Drain on paper towels.
