Hazelnut Shortbread Mix in a Jar


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups finely chopped hazelnuts


  1. Layer the ingredients in a quart-size jar.
  2. Attach the following recipe on a gift tag.

Hazelnut Shortbread

In a mixing bowl, cream 1 cup butter (DO NOT use margarine!). Add 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Add contents of jar and mix well. Shape into two 1 1/2-inch rolls; wrap tightly in wax paper. Chill for 2 hours or until firm.

Cut into 1/4-inch slices and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 325 degrees F for 14-16 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Remove to wire racks to cool.

Makes about 6 dozen.
