Method

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly oil a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. Soften shortening.
  3. Sift in dry ingredients.
  4. Add milk and mix until flour is dampened; beat 2 minutes.
  5. Add vanilla extract, eggs and nuts; beat 1 minute.
  6. Bake for 35 minutes in prepared pan.
