South of the Border Grilled Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 package chili seasoning mix or taco seasoning mix or 2 tablespoons homemade Taco Seasoning
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 pounds chicken pieces

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients except chicken, mixing well.
  2. Add chicken pieces; cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 2 or 3 hours, turning occasionally.
  3. Grill chicken over medium coals, turning and basting with marinating sauce frequently.
  4. Cook for 45 minutes or until done.
  5. While chicken is cooking, heat remaining marinating sauce in heatproof pan on back of grill.
  6. Serve hot sauce with grilled chicken.
