Baked Barbecued Meatballs in Sauce

My mother-in-law gave me this recipe just after we were married and I still make this; a good company dish.

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons evaporated milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Sauce

  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine all Meatballs ingredients together and form into small balls. Brown in skillet, drain on paper towel.
  2. Place in a lasagna-size baking dish.
  3. Combine all Sauce ingredients together in a medium saucepan. Bring to boil; boil for 5 minutes. Pour over meatballs.
  4. Bake uncovered in 350 degree F oven for 1 hour.
  5. Serve with hot rice or noodles and a green salad.

Yield: 4 servings

Recipe can be doubled.
