Tamale Balls



  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
  • 3/4 cup tomato juice
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt


    • 3 (#2) cans tomatoes
    • 2 teaspoons salt
    • 1 tablespoon chili powder


    1. Meatballs: Grind beef and pork together twice.
    2. Add remaining ingredients and form into small balls - about 150.
    3. Drop into sauce and simmer for 2 hours.
    4. Sauce: Heat ingredients together in large roaster. Let sauce come to a boil and drop in balls. Simmer.
    5. To serve, keep hot in chafing dish and pick up with wooden picks.
