Honey Glazed Ham

Honey Glazed Ham

Ingredients

Ham

  • 10 pound bone-in spiral sliced ham or whole ham, fully cooked
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Ham Glaze

  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

First Baking

  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. Place ham cut side down on a roasting pan and tent with aluminum foil.
  3. Bake for 1 hour.
  4. Prepare the Ham Glaze while it bakes.

Ham Glaze

  1. Add butter to a small microwave-safe mixing bowl. Melt the butter in 30 second intervals in the microwave until fully melted.
  2. Add remaining ingredients to the mixing bowl, and thoroughly mix until fully combined.
  3. Carefully remove roasting pan from oven after baking for one hour. Leave the oven on. Remove aluminum foil.
  4. Brush the outside of the ham with the Ham Glaze.
  5. If using a spiral ham, separate slices and brush the inside of each slice with the Ham Glaze.

Final Baking

  1. Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the roasting pan. This will keep it moist and allows you to baste if necessary.
  2. Return roasting pan to the oven. Do not cover it.
  3. Bake for an additional 30 minutes.
  4. After baking, you can add another coat of glaze for extra flavor, if desired.
