Spiked Spiced Nuts
Ingredients
- 5 pounds walnuts
- 1 pound confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons pumpkin spice mix
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 egg whites, slightly beaten
- 1/4 cup good rum
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Spread nuts on a large cookie sheet and heat in the oven for 15 minutes.
- While the nuts are heating, mix the sugar, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin spice and salt.
- Add the vegetable oil; mix.
- Add the egg whites, mix, and then add the rum and mix one final time.
- Pour the hot nuts into the mixture and toss to coat.
- Spread on foil to dry for about one hour.
- Store covered in refrigerator.
