Buttery Swiss Cheese Canapés


  • 16 ounces Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 1 (16 ounce) loaf French or Italian bread, cut into 32 slices


  1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Combine the cheese, butter, green onions, mustard and poppy seeds in a medium mixing bowl and mix well. Spread some of the cheese mixture on each of the bread slices.
  3. Arrange the slices in a single layer on an 11 x 17-inch baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes or until bubbly.

Yield: 32 servings

May chill the cheese mixture and serve with assorted party crackers.
