No Photo

Yield: 8 servings (2 2/3 cups)

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces (2 cups) medium Cheddar or Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 (10 ounce/284 ml) can condensed Cheddar cheese soup
  • 3/4 cup milk (may use non-alcoholic beer instead)
  • 12 ounces rye bread, cut into 1 inch cubes (6 cups)

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Using Deluxe Cheese Grater, shred cheese into Mini Baking Bowl. Add flour; toss. Stir in soup and milk.
  3. Bake for 30 minutes or until cheese is melted and smooth when stirred.
  4. Using Bread Knife, cut bread into 1 inch cubes.
  5. Use Bamboo Tongs, fondue forks or wooden skewers to dip bread cubes into fondue.

Notes

To prepare fondue in microwave oven, combine ingredients in Mini-Baking Bowl as directed. Microwave on HIGH 2 minutes. Stir; continue microwaving 2 to 3 minutes, stirring every minute, until cheese is melted and smooth. If fondue cools while serving, return to microwave oven and microwave on HIGH 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every minute until it is heated.

In addition to using rye bread cubes for dipping, try sourdough or French bread cubes, sort breadsticks, apple or pear wedges, chicken, turkey or ham chunks, pepper strips, or partially cooked vegetables such as small red potatoes, cut in half, broccoli or cauliflower florets.

The Mini-Baking Bowl keeps the fondue warm while serving.
