Warm Strawberry Dessert Topping

Yield: about 3 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 quart (1 pound) strawberries
  • 1 orange
  • 1 (11.75 to 15.5 ounce) jar strawberry ice cream topping
  • Pound cake slices, vanilla ice cream or brownies (optional)

Instructions

  1. Hull strawberries using Cook's Corer® and slice into quarters using Paring Knife.
  2. Zest orange using Lemon Zester/Scorer to measure 1 tablespoon zest.
  3. Juice orange using Juicer to measure 1 tablespoon juice.
  4. In Small (2 quart) Saucepan, combine zest, juice and ice cream topping. Heat over medium heat 5 minutes or until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat.
  5. Add strawberries to ice cream topping mixture; stir gently.
  6. Serve topping over pound cake slices, ice cream or brownies, if desired. Topping can be made up to 3 hours before serving. Cover and refrigerate.
  7. When ready to serve, heat topping just until warm.
