Gourmet Bird Food Balls

Recipe Ingredients

Method

  1. Have the butcher grind the suet.
  2. Place suet in a pan and melt over medium heat.
  3. Strain into a large bowl.
  4. Add peanut butter, molasses, bacon grease, oatmeal and corn meal.
  5. Add enough seeds until mixture can be rolled into balls.
  6. Roll into two-inch balls and coat with bird feed while warm.
  7. Chill.
  8. Place outside for the birds.
  9. If using as a gift, wrap individual balls in plastic wrap and tie with a ribbon.
  10. Attach a label indicating it is for the birds.

Yields 24 two-inch balls
