Gooey Chocolate Cobbler

Ingredients

Batter

  • 2 sticks (1 cup) butter
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup milk

Chocolate Layer

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 cups boiling water

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.

Batter

  1. In a 9 x 13 inch glass baking dish, melt the two sticks of butter in the oven.
  2. Meanwhile in a bowl, mix together the 1 1/4 cups sugar, flour, vanilla extract and milk.
  3. When the butter is melted, pour the batter over the butter, but do not stir.

Chocolate Layer

  1. In a separate bowl mix the cocoa and sugar together and sprinkle on top of batter. Do not stir.
  2. Pour the 2 cups boiling water on top. Do not stir.
  3. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes.
  4. Serve warm.
