Gooey Chocolate Cobbler
Ingredients
Batter
- 2 sticks (1 cup) butter
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup milk
Chocolate Layer
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 cups boiling water
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Batter
- In a 9 x 13 inch glass baking dish, melt the two sticks of butter in the oven.
- Meanwhile in a bowl, mix together the 1 1/4 cups sugar, flour, vanilla extract and milk.
- When the butter is melted, pour the batter over the butter, but do not stir.
Chocolate Layer
- In a separate bowl mix the cocoa and sugar together and sprinkle on top of batter. Do not stir.
- Pour the 2 cups boiling water on top. Do not stir.
- Bake for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Serve warm.
