Custard Pie



  • 10 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 quart scalded milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter


  1. Scald milk and butter.
  2. Let cool and then add to egg mixture composed of eggs, sugar, nutmeg and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour mixture into pie crust-lined (deep-dish) 9-inch pie plate.
  4. Place in a 450 degrees F preheated oven.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes only.
  6. Turn heat completely off.
  7. Let pie stand in oven for 1 hour.
