Crows Nest Pudding




  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Butter, the size of a walnut
  • Flour, as needed

Chocolate Pudding Filling

  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Batter: Cream the butter and egg; add the sugar and baking powder; mix well; add the milk and vanilla extract; mix well.
  2. Add enough flour to make a little stiffer than cake batter and bake in 9 x 13-inch pan at 375 degrees F for 20-30 minutes.
  3. When cool cut in little squares and top with filling.
  4. Chocolate Pudding Filling: Mix sugar, flour, cornstarch and cocoa, add to milk and water and bring to boil, add vanilla. Put this on the squares and serve while hot.
