Fried Tomato Gravy

For a hungry crowd (this allows the cook time to get the potatoes mashed)!

Ingredients

  • 3 ripened tomatoes
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Slice tomatoes.
  2. Dip into flour.
  3. Fry in butter or margarine.
  4. When thickened, stir in brown sugar and gradually add milk.
  5. Cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
  6. Keep warm until ready to eat.
