Nutritional Yeast Vegan Cheese Sticks
Great as a snack or a party table treat, these tofu sticks will be loved by your vegan and carnivore friends alike. Featuring the great cheese-like flavor of nutritional yeast, each stick has a crispy, crunchy crust and a soft center.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon Frontier Co-op Sweet Basil Leaf, Cut & Sifted, Organic
- 1 tablespoon Frontier Co-op Parsley Leaf Flakes, Organic
- 2 tablespoons Frontier Co-op Nutritional Yeast Flakes, Organic
- 1 tablespoon Frontier Co-op Cornstarch, Organic
- 1 teaspoon Frontier Table Grind Sea Salt
- 1 teaspoon Frontier Organic Garlic Powder
- 1 (14 ounce) package extra firm tofu
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon cornmeal
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Cut tofu into eight even sticks.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, basil, parsley and nutritional yeast.
- In a separate medium mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup flour, cornmeal, cornstarch, salt and garlic powder. Combine dry ingredients, then add 1/2 cup water and whisk to create a smooth batter.
- Place the remaining 1/2 cup of flour in a separate bowl.
- Wrap tofu sticks in a paper bowl and press gently to remove excess moisture.
- One at a time, dip tofu sticks in flour, then coat in batter, then roll in breadcrumbs.
- Heat a medium cast-iron skillet on medium-high heat. Add oil and allow it to heat up until a bread crumb dropped into the oil sizzles.
- Fry vegan sticks a few at a time. Cook each side until golden brown (about 1 minute) before turning.
- Serve tofu sticks with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
