Wing That Cheese Football

This Wing That Cheese Football platter is a perfect game day recipe for any crowd. Score big points for creativity with this clever idea for the big game – turn your appetizer spread into a football! Layer and arrange buffalo wings, crackers and two kinds of Cabot cheddar into the shape of a football, complete with cheesy laces.

Wing That Cheese Football

Yield: 12 to 15 servings

Ingredients

  • 3 dozen Buffalo-style chicken wings (room temperature)
  • 1 box round golden crackers (40 to 50)
  • 2 1/2 to 3 pounds Cabot Sharp Yellow Cheddar, cubed
  • 4 ounces (about 1 cup) Cabot Seriously Sharp Cheddar, cut into laces
  • 1 carrot
  • Fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Arrange two layers of chicken wings in football shape on a large platter, keeping them as level as possible.
  2. Cut piece of 10 inch x 5.5 inch cardboard into football shape. Cover with foil.
  3. Place one chicken wing layer to protect crackers, making sure outer ring of chicken wings show.
  4. Cover foil with one layer of crackers.
  5. Arrange cubes of yellow cheddar on top of crackers, stacking them in two or three layers to create football shape. Decorate top with strips of white cheddar to make laces.
  6. Serve with Creamy Blue Cheese Dip, garnished with carrot goal posts and parsley.
