Pink Valentine Frosting

  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 9 tablespoons scalded cream
  • Red food coloring


  1. Combine shortening, butter, vanilla extract, almond extract and salt; blend. Beat in 1/2 cup of the confectioners' sugar.
  2. Add hot cream alternately with remaining sugar, beating well after each addition. Add only enough cream to make a good spreading consistency.
  3. Add a few drops of red coloring to tint frosting a delicate pink.
