Spice Cake (Ontbijtkoek — Holland)
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
- Combine all ingredients to a smooth paste.
- Butter an 8 x 3-inch cake tin. Fill
with dough and bake for about 1 hour at 300 degrees F.
- Allow to cool.
- Keep in a tin for 24 hours before serving.
