Sugar-Browned Potatoes (Denmark)
2 pounds new potatoes
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons water
Heat 1 inch salted water to boiling.
Add potatoes. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and cook until tender, 20 to 25 minutes; drain.
Cook and stir butter, sugar and salt in skillet over medium heat until mixture starts to turn golden brown.
Remove from heat; cool slightly.
Stir in water until blended.
Add potatoes. Cook over low heat, turning potatoes to coat with sugar mixture.
Yields 4 to 6 servings
